Ma'al Hijrah Celebration

Salam and Greetings,

Here, I would like to announce one of the big events in Islam, i.e Ma'al Hijrah 1430 (Muslim's New Year) which will be on this coming Monday 29th December 2008. There will be a program at Masjid Taman Bukit Indah, starting at 6.15pm 28th December 2008 with End of Year Doa recitation and after Maghrib there will be Beginning of Year Doa. In addition there will be a talk given by Ust Ibrahim after that until Isyak. All Muslims in Nusa Idaman area are invited.

Some info about Hijrah...

Hijrah is the migration of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam (Peace be upon him) and his followers to the city of Medina in 622 Masehi. The first Hijrah occurred in 615 Masehi when a band of Muslims (led by Jaafar bin Abi Talib r.a) was counseled by Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam (Peace be upon him) to escape persecution in Mecca and travel to the Kingdom of Axum (Habsyah / Ethiopia), which was ruled by a Christian king. They were helped physically only and hence Islam did not spread.

In September 622, Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wasallam and his followers emigrated to the city of Yathrib (Medina), 320 km north of Mecca. They were welcomed and helped physically and spiritually since they left (sacrifice) everything in Mecca. Hence, Islam spread to four corners of the world. The Muslim year during which the Hijrah occurred was designated the first year of the Islamic calendar by Umar in 638 Masehi, 17 After Hijrah.
